“Worship before service.” -RCS

Worship before service, not service before worship.” Last week, I was listening to an episode of the GraceLaced Podcast by Ruth Chou Simons . This quote of hers really stuck with me. Worship is not just about the worship service on Sundays. The reminder is not a brand new concept to me, yet it was so refreshing to be reminded of it. In fact, it is one of those things I just need to be reminded over and over again.

As a teacher, I certainly see my work and ministries as service to God. However, I tend to mix up the order between worship and service. This is where I tend to blur the line and start lose my focus on God. I find myself drown in things to do, making to-do lists after to-do lists. I begin to worship myself… to think I can do it all… to think I can do it without dwelling in Him first. I forget to prioritize the importance of worship, just gazing to the Lord. I forget how sweet and peaceful it is to just adore God and who He is. I forget the freedom that He promised.

It is just so amazing that God does speak to me everywhere and anywhere. God definitely works in miraculous ways. Just a couple Sundays ago, a guest speaker preached about Psalm 42:1 – “as the deer panteth for the water so my soul longeth after thee.”

And so, I want to remind myself to long for God, to worship God, first and foremost. Before my service. Before anything I do. Before any interactions, with my students, my colleagues, the parents, my family and friends, and the community. May this post can be an encouragement and a blessing to you. Thank you for being here!
